Keratin Bond Fusion Hair Extensions
Keratin Bond Fusion Hair Extensions are also called Hot Fusion Hair Extensions or Pre-Bonded Hair Extensions and are sometimes called K Tip Hair Extensions. These hair extensions have keratin glue blocks at the ends, which require the use of a heat tool or dedicated ultrasonic tools to fuse the keratin blocks to the hair during installation.
Keratin is a strong, water-insoluble fibrous protein that is the main component of our hair, skin, and nails, so it is safe for humans. It is solid at normal temperature and has strong adhesive ability after softening in a liquid state; this is the time to glue the extensions and hair. When solidified, a small, almost invisible bonding point is formed, firmly bonding the extension to the natural hair.
Installation Method
There are generally two main installation methods: Hot fusion and Ultrasonic fusion. The main difference between the two methods is how the pre-made keratin tips are blended with natural hair.
Hot fusion: In the heat fusion process, a heat fusion tool (usually a device similar to a hair straightener) is used to heat the keratin tips of the hair extensions to a temperature high enough that they begin to melt. The melted keratin tip is then combined with a small strand of natural hair and allowed to cool and harden, creating a strong connection.
Ultrasonic fusion: The process is similar to hot fusion, but an ultrasonic device is used instead of traditional hot fusion tools. Ultrasonic energy from ultrasonic equipment can melt the keratin tips without using high heat. This method is considered less damaging to the hair as it reduces heat exposure.
Advantage
- Natural Results: Because Keratin Bond Fusion hair extensions create very small, imperceptible bond points, they blend in with your natural hair, providing a very natural-looking result.
- Long-lasting: With proper care, this hair extension can last for several months.
- Wide Use: Keratin Bond Fusion hair extensions work on a variety of different hair types and textures, including straight, curly, wavy, and more.
Shortcoming
- Potential Hair Damage: While keratin glue is a relatively hair-friendly adhesive, the use of hot tools and removal of the bond point can cause some damage to natural hair.
- Time-Consuming: The installation process of keratin bond fusion hair extensions can take several hours and requires regular professional maintenance.
- Difficulty in Removal: The removal process for keratin bond fusion hair extensions can be difficult if not performed by a professional and may even damage the natural hair.
